In the past scientists used to believe that your brain changed and matured only while you were a child. Once you became an adult your brain did not mature anymore, and the belief was that it was a general slow downward slight as far as brain deterioration was.
Eventually Alzheimer’s would set in and very soon you become senile.
This is rather scary for those of us over 50!
However, scientists have discovered that the brain has the capacity to continue growing and evolving in response to life experiences. This phenomenon is called neuroplasticity.
So you can adapt, change and even heal your brain (even in your old age). This is done by creating new neurons and building new networks.
